Redating the Zhuwobu Paleolithic site in the Huailai basin, North China, using the MET-pIRIR procedure on K-feldspars

As part of the “generalized Nihewan Basin”, Huailai basin has recently attracted archaeologists’ attention. Ten Paleolithic sites were found in this 2014; among these, Zhuwobu site is oldest―dated to 504 ± 76 ka using electron spin resonance (ESR) dating method. This study redated multiple elevated temperatures (MET) post infrared (pIR) stimulated luminescence (IRSL) procedure (MET-pIRIR) on both multi-grained single and aliquots potassium-rich feldspars (K-feldspars). The consistency D e results obtained from single- multiple-aliquot procedures mutually supported reliability our age results. Our suggest that cultural layer at was deposited about 280 13 (MIS 8) ago, ∼220 younger than previous ESR age. Considering region’s tectonic history characteristics sedimentary facies for ZWB site, we suggested bottom three samples sediment profile might be overestimated due poor bleaching before burial.
